Accessibility Statement

The Kanza Heritage Society is committed to ensuring that our programs, events, educational materials, and digital resources are accessible and welcoming to all members of our community. As a nonprofit organization operated by the Kaw Nation and dedicated to preserving, protecting, and perpetuating the history and culture of the Kanza people, we believe that accessibility is an essential part of honoring the dignity, inclusion, and participation of every individual.

We strive to provide equal access for individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We continually work to identify and remove barriers that may prevent full participation and seek to create environments that are respectful, inclusive, and responsive to everyone's diverse needs.

Website Accessibility

The Kanza Heritage Society is committed to making our website accessible and user-friendly for all visitors. We endeavor to follow recognized accessibility standards and best practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), to improve usability for people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice recognition software, keyboard navigation, and alternative input devices.

Our ongoing efforts may include:

  • Providing text alternatives for meaningful images and graphics;

  • Using clear and consistent navigation throughout our website;

  • Designing content with readability and sufficient color contrast in mind;

  • Supporting keyboard accessibility where possible;

  • Reviewing and improving website content and functionality on a regular basis.

Because accessibility standards and technologies continue to evolve, some areas of our website may not yet fully meet every accessibility expectation. We are committed to continual improvement and welcome feedback from our visitors.

Programs and Events

The Kanza Heritage Society seeks to make its programs and community events accessible to participants of all abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be available upon request. Individuals who require accommodations are encouraged to contact us in advance whenever possible so that we may work together to support meaningful participation.

Examples of accommodations may include:

  • Accessible seating arrangements;

  • Alternative formats for printed materials when available;

  • Assistance navigating event spaces;

  • Communication support and other reasonable accommodations based on individual needs.

Feedback and Assistance

We value your feedback and recognize that accessibility is an ongoing process of learning and improvement. If you encounter barriers accessing our website or events, or if you have suggestions for improving accessibility, we encourage you to contact us at info@kanza.org

Please provide details about the accessibility concern, including the webpage, or event involved, and the best way to reach you. We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly and address concerns whenever possible.

The Kanza Heritage Society remains dedicated to fostering an environment where all people are welcomed, respected, and able to engage with the rich history, language, traditions, and cultural heritage of the Kanza people.
